I LOVE YOU is a winner of prestigious PRIX CIRCOM television award in Strasbourg.

Here is a letter from jury:
"A contemporary feature length drama in which the main character, Kreso, is diagnosed as HIV positive. Kreso and his girlfriend enjoy all the trappings of modern life until the terrible day of the diagnosis that brings his world to a stop. He was infected by a blood transfusion given after a car accident. The world turns against him and he sets himself against the world as he goes on a rampage to spread his disease. Eventually, he finds reconciliation through friendship with a barmaid. The ending gives an unexpected twist and the story goes full circle as Kreso himself is knocked down by a car. Although the film follows a linear structure to chart his emotional destruction following the diagnosis, the reflective script brings the viewer beyond the story of the main character and holds a mirror up to the fall-out of modern living and to ask ourselves where this ‘ipod generation’ will stop. It has a highly contemporary, young feel with a simple and uncluttered direction style. Design is extremely stylish and very effective. The attention to detail is truly amazing. A satire on contemporary life!"

This is a nice remark on mini European tour of the film including festivals in Sofia, Skopje and Prague.

'LOVE' STUD CONQUERS ALL
By V.A. MUSETTO

January 3, 2007 -- The innovative Two Boots Pioneer Theater kicks off 2007 with a shocking drama from Croatia, "I Love You."
It is the tragic story of Kreso (Kresimir Mikic), a young man who kills somebody with his car but gets off lightly thanks to his well-connected father. But Daddy can't help him with one of the side effects of the accident: A blood transfusion for an injury received in the incident renders Kreso HIV-positive. You would think that the news would cut down Kreso's sex life; but he's a stud, and he isn't about to let the threat of AIDS turn him off women, even if he has to pay them. (His girlfriend split as soon as she learned of Kreso's fate.) "I Love You" watches as the young man plunges deeper and deeper into a dark world of debauchery and self-destruction. The director, 30-year-old Dalibor Matanic, allows himself a few weepy moments, but mostly the script stays on target, accompanied by strong acting and lensing. Matanic has attracted attention on the festival circuit, including New Directors/New Films in New York. "I Love You" should increase his appeal.

NEW YORK TIMES released a great review of I LOVE U!
Today film opens in Two Boots Pioneer in New York and this is review originally:

In Croatia, an Empty Life in Full View
By JEANNETTE CATSOULIS
Published: January 3, 2007

“I Love You,” a bleak drama from the Croatian writer and director Dalibor Matanic, is an unusually perceptive scrutiny of absence and emptiness. Set in the filmmaker’s hometown, Zagreb, the movie follows a young advertising hotshot named Kreso (Kresimir Mikic), whose life is a thoughtless round of drinking, drugs and sex. When he gets into trouble, his lawyer father bails him out; when he is lonely, his gym buddies are preferable to the live-in girlfriend he barely speaks to. Then he learns he is H.I.V.-positive. Countering an admittedly trite premise — personal growth through unexpected adversity — with an atmosphere of haunting sterility, Mr. Matanic and his cinematographer, Branko Linta, wash the screen in the palest of grays, infused with mutating pastels. As Kreso’s life is stripped away (“The company has to be clean, both inside and out,” says his unrepentant boss as he shows him the door), Kreso’s surroundings appear increasingly insubstantial and his connections with others more raw and violent. It is a furiously unsympathetic role, and Mr. Mikic — a lean Adrien Brody look-alike — tackles it with compelling urgency. Opening and closing beneath the clinical glare of hospital lights, “I Love You” conjures a disaffected post-Communist life of casual hedonism and emotional bankruptcy. In its simple, unforced way, the movie is as much about the loss of a generation as the redemption of an individual.

I LOVE YOU (VOLIM TE)
Opens today in Manhattan.
Written (in Croatian, with English subtitles) and directed by Dalibor Matanic; director of photography, Branko Linta; edited by Tomislav Pavlic; music by Jura Ferina and Pavle Miholjevic; produced by Mario Oreskovic; released by the Doors Art Foundation. At the Two Boots Pioneer Theater, 155 East Third Street, at Avenue A, East Village. Running time: 83 minutes. This film is not rated. WITH: Kresimir Mikic (Kreso), Ivana Roscic (Waitress), Ivana Krizmanic (Ana), Zrinka Cvitesic (Squash Girl), Natasa Janjic (Natasa) and Bojan Navojec (Zec).
